Mrs. Kishori J Udeshi was the first woman to be appointed as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, and also holds the distinction of being the first Executive Director of the RBI to be nominated on the Board of the State Bank of India. As Deputy Governor, one of her portfolios included the regulation and supervision of the banking and non-banking sector. She represented the RBI on the Core Principles Liaison Group and the Core Principles Working Group on Capital, of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, set up by the Bank for International Settlements, Switzerland.
As the Deputy Governor, she was on the Board of SEBI, NABARD, and EXIM Bank and also served as the Chairperson of Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran (Pvt.) Ltd., Bangalore. She also served as Chairperson of the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation. In 2006, she was appointed as Chairperson of The Banking Codes and Standards Board of India by the RBI. She demitted from this office in December 2011. The Government of India (GOI) appointed her as a Member of the Financial Sector Legislative Reforms Commission chaired by Justice Shrikrishna. The Government of Maharashtra has also nominated her to the Board of the Indian Red Cross Society, Mumbai. She is an Independent Non-Executive Director on the boards of a few companies as well. She also holds an MA in Economics from Bombay University.

He was the managing partner of Udwadia, Udeshi & Berjis from 1997 to 2003.
